Sunshine Coast Council Service Delivery Review

Wolter Consulting Group were engaged by Sunshine Coast Council to undertake a review of the structure, processes and practices of five of the six teams within the Development Services Branch: Customer and Support Services; Planning Assessment; Engineering and Environment Assessment; Appeals Management and Compliance; Kawana Waters and Palmview; and Managers Office.

The evaluation framework adopted by WCG for the review included:

  • Scanning the context and external environment in which DSD provides services;
  • Undertaking engagement with staff and external stakeholders; and
  • Benchmarking across Southeast Queensland Councils.

WCG provided a final report to Council proposing a suite of recommendations in November 2021.

With consideration to impact and urgency, the recommendations focused in the strategy areas of:

  • Capacity to respond to workload demands;
  • Delivery models, work processes and team structures;
  • Team culture and engagement;
  • Customer engagement; and
  • Continuous and sustainable improvements.
