Is South-East Queensland Really Meeting Targets Set by ShapingSEQ?

The 2021 SEQ Land Supply and Development Monitoring Report paints a pretty picture of South-East Queensland’s overall growth as it exceeds the ShapingSEQ target rates for most SEQ local government areas (LGAs). However, when translating planned land supply into approved (yet uncompleted) lot supply, it is a different story. Five out of 12 of South-East Queensland’s LGAs don’t meet the minimum approved supply targets and the average annual benchmark calculation is questionable. Connecting Communities - Brisbane Valley Rail Trail - Wulkuraka Trail Head

The Design team at Wolters are excited to see Wulkuraka rail trail head being realised. Totalling 161km in length, the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (BVRT) is Currently Australia’s longest rail trail, spanning from Wulkuraka to Yarraman.  Working to connect communities that are fragmented by redundant infrastructure can be a challenging task that requires a high degree of creativity and innovation . The goal here was to turn these locked parcels of land into a usable and desirable community open space – providing an active pedestrian transport network between the city and rural areas, while acknowledging the historical role of the rail line. Click on the title to read more.

WCG is awarded a Commendation in Strategic Planning category at the PIA Planning Excellence Awards 2021.

At this years' PIA Awards for Planning Excellence, the project team for Mirani Community Precinct was presented a commendation award within the category of Strategic Planning Project, a project that the Design studio here at Wolters was extremely proud to assist Mackay Regional Council in producing.  The master planning project led by our Design included a number of stakeholder workshops and design charrettes to develop a range of options for the site; Originally sought to house the local Pioneer Valley Machinery Preservation Society and Pioneer Classic Car Club in a large shed, we facilitated a more inclusive design process that additionally repurposed a range of existing buildings within the site.

WCG October Wrap Up!

What an eventful month it has been! During the month of October our team have hosted, attended & spoken at six Industry Events; raised over $24,000 for our charity of choice Beddown through the Shed Your Bed 2021 Campaign; held several staff activities including Trivia Night, bring your dog to work day and a company breakfast / workshop with our special guest Kim Yabsley. We also received a highly commended acknowledgement in the Surveying Consultancy Excellence Awards 2021 and one of our projects has been nominated for the upcoming 2021 Awards for Planning Excellence with the Planning Institute of Australia. This week, on 21 June 2021, Brisbane City Council released Our Productive City: Brisbane’s Industrial Future - a draft strategy document that will eventually supersede the Brisbane Industrial Strategy 2019.
