The Design team at Wolters are excited to see Wulkuraka rail trail head being realised. Totalling 161km in length, the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (BVRT) is Currently Australia’s longest rail trail, spanning from Wulkuraka to Yarraman. Working to connect communities that are fragmented by redundant infrastructure can be a challenging task that requires a high degree of creativity and innovation . The goal here was to turn these locked parcels of land into a usable and desirable community open space – providing an active pedestrian transport network between the city and rural areas, while acknowledging the historical role of the rail line. An Infrastructure Designation is like Planning Gold! No longer bestowed on only public sector entities, an Infrastructure Designation (ID) is an opportunity to designate premises for the development of essential infrastructure and services, faster, at lower cost and without risk of appeal. Previously, only public entities were able to request these designations, however since the introduction of the Planning Act 2016, the process is able to be requested by private entities as well.
