Connecting Communities - Brisbane Valley Rail Trail - Wulkuraka Trail Head

01/02/2022

The Design team at Wolters are excited to see Wulkuraka rail trail head being realised. Totalling 161km in length, the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (BVRT) is Currently Australia’s longest rail trail, spanning from Wulkuraka to Yarraman.

Working to connect communities that are fragmented by redundant infrastructure can be a challenging task thatWulkuraka Trail Head_1 - Photo.jpg requires a high degree of creativity and innovation . The goal here was to turn these locked parcels of land into a usable and desirable community open space – providing an active pedestrian transport network between the city and rural areas, while acknowledging the historical role of the rail line.

The WCG Design Team worked with our engineer partners, Council and State Government to deliver a key recreational linear trail. We managed and integrated site constraints seamlessly into the design and provided sustainable solutions whilst addressing budgetary issues.

Congratulations to our valued Client and all involved on the fantastic outcome which carries many economic, social, and cultural benefits - delivering better places for people.

This project is just one of the many trail projects we have been asked to partner with, stay tuned to see the result.
