An existing quarry located on a 650ha land parcel in rural Tingun was operating above capacity and proposed expansion from a capacity of up to 100,000 tonnes to a capacity of up to one million tonnes. The facility included an extractive industry operation and associated crushing and screening operations. The approval required land use approval from the Maranoa Regional Council as well as an Environmental Authority from the State government for Environmentally Relevant Activity 16 occurring. The land also had frontage to the Carnarvon Highway, a State controlled road, requiring assessment of State controlled road matters. The land was also mapped as having an oil and gas pipeline in place, triggering assessment.
