Considered the centrepiece of the Great Court at the University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus, the Forgan Smith building refurbishment involves transforming a piece of history.  The internal refurbishment of this heritage listed building involves the demolition of the existing roof level to extend it to provide new space for occupation, internal demolition works and the creation of a new void area creating a full height atrium down to the main entrance.  The works also involve the construction of new internal pedestrian cross over bridges and staircases to create a state-of-the-art teaching and research facility.
