Wolter Consulting Group provided a key consultant role in guiding and managing the project approval process for AFL Queensland to establish their office headquarters on “Leyshon Park” within Yeronga, which presents as a 3 storey building comprising 1,150m2 floor area. The planning rationale underpinning the approval is based on the scale and locational characteristics of the office and Leyshon Park being compatible, and there being a nexus between the nature of the business office use and the sport and recreation activities on site. In 2011, Leyshon Park was impacted by flooding, and as a result WCG were also involved in providing immediate flood recovery statutory advice and DA strategy to obtain approval for a new Yeronga Devils Clubhouse, which involved technical guidance on the application of flood resilient building design principles, and the preparation of a Flood Emergency Response Plan for the site.
